 This month The Barts Hendrick’s Book Club is delighted to announce a talk given by one of Britain’s most gregarious couples, Neil and Christine Hamilton on Wednesday 13th July.  No strangers to scandal, the Hamiltons have emerged in recent years as national treasures, and their talk will be on the titillating subjects of “Sex, Politics and Egyptian Grocers.” Neil is a former British barrister, teacher and ConservativeMP. Since leaving politics in 1997, him and his wife have become celebrities, and he is now known as a writer, actor, broadcaster and entertainer.

Christine is renowned for her witty conference and after-dinner speeches and published her autobiography in 2005. A celebrated foodie, in 2005 she became the face of British Sausage Week and then cooked her way into the Celebrity Masterchef final in 2010. The Hamiltons will be taking questions from the floor and the person with the best question will win a £20 Waterstones Book Voucher and a pot of Hendrick’s Gin Chelsea Rose tea served in a teapot. 

 Neil will be signing his book, ‘Great Political Eccentrics’ and Christine will be available to sign her two books: ‘Christine Hamilton’s Bumper Book of British Battleaxes’ and ‘For Better For Worse’ on the evening. Book clubbers can then enjoy high brow, academic discussions with their fellow bookworms or alternatively put their reading material to one side and enjoycocktails and dissipation in the style of the original book club, The Bloomsbury Set. It is the brainchild of Duncan Stirling and Charlie Gilkes, the young duo who also recently opened the highly successful 80’s themed nightclub, Maggie’s.
