Not that you ever really need an excuse to go to the oyster bar at J. Sheekey, they have on the 1st Sunday of every month an evening of entertainment that is somewhat out of the ordinary. Hosted by Hardeep Singh Kohli the funniest of funny men and amazing poker player has been picking the best of the best when it comes to new entertainers to showcase their talents on these nights. Sheekeys oyster bar is transformed into a speakeasy, think Bugsy Malone, without the cream fight hopefully and you are there.
The first act to be showcased in June were The Showstoppers,an improvised musical group who make up fully-fledged musicals on the spot, based on suggestions from the audience.
While watching the series of performances, diners will enjoy a seasonal menu for £30 per person. Some examples of dishes that will be featured include Strangford Loch oysters with spicy boar sausage, stone bass ceviche, asparagus and spice-cured salmon, grilled tiger prawns with piri-piri butter and sautéed octopus with chorizo. The menu will also include a ‘Twinkle’ cocktail made with Ketel One vodka, elderflower cordial and Champagne.
Seating is around the bar, there are 26 seats in total, so not out of the question to take the whole place over for a party, but also a great way of getting to talk t your neighbour if you dont know them. Forget the X faxtor result show and go and see some real talent on a Sunday night
