Maison Bertaux Greek Street London. The best cake shop in London

Maison Bertaux
London’s oldest (and best) patisserie
28 Greek Street
SOHO London
020 7437 6007

This is what Soho is all about, a unique offering in a sea of chain coffee and cake shops. This family run  patisserie is the thing of legend, in that every July the 14th they celebrate Bastille Day like nobodies business and brings a true sense of community spirit to the area, it has to be seen to be believed.
If you’re passing through Soho and crave something sweet, head for the pavement tables  or upstairs tables at Maison Bertaux, purveyors of delicious creme-based pastries and savory sandwiches and quiches. Also a great place for a coffee/tea break to refuel between shop and gallery visits. But do yourself a favor and at least try one perfectly flaky, perfectly piled with cream treat—folks have been doing so since 1871, after all. And personally I think they have the best croissant I have ever tasted, they do an amazing cheese and ham one and if you are lucky you get one from which the cheese has escaped a bit and is now a crunchy disc clinging on for dear life until pulled off.
