DINE LAUGHING WITH THE NEW SHEEKEY’S SPEAKEASIES
J Sheekey Oyster Bar is proud to announce its new season of performances for Sheekey’s Speakeasies. In 2011 the first Speakeasy season introduced monthly cabaret performances to
J Sheekey Oyster Bar, combining dinner with live music and comedy performance, creating an unforgettable evening of entertainment.

Due to overwhelming demand for tickets, from April 2012 there will be four Speakeasy shows each month. Each first and third Sunday of the month will have two shows: a brunch performance at midday and an evening show at 7pm. Tickets cost £35 and include a set menu of J Sheekey favourites and a Ketel One cocktail on arrival.

The cabaret performances are punctuated by a seasonal menu which includes dishes such as Strangford Lough oysters with spicy boar sausage, stone bass ceviche, grilled tiger prawns with piri- piri butter and sautéed octopus with chorizo.

As in the Speakeasy Bars of prohibition America, a cocktail is served on the house to circumvent the law. For brunch shows, this will be a Ketel One Bloody Mary, the dinner performances will feature a monthly-changing cocktail.

Hardeep Singh Kohli, Scottish comedian, writer, and broadcaster, will curate the season, hand-picking the most exciting contemporary acts. The new season kicks off with a bang on 1 April with darling of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the frankly-named Cabaret Whore, who invites the audience into the delightful world of the cabaret performer and begs the question, “where does the need for adulation end, and therapy start?”

The season continues on 15 April with Desmond O’Connor hosting three cabaret acts, who will take to the horseshow shaped bar. Future acts will be announced in due course.

"Anyone attending the Sheekey's Speakeasies should expect the unexpected. The atmosphere is relaxed and playful... perfect for a Sunday. We plan to offer unusual entertainment of the highest order. That, and braised octopus." – Hardeep Singh Kohli

J Sheekey Oyster Bar is situated next to its alma mater, J Sheekey, one of the most iconic fish restaurants in London. Located on St Martin's Court in the heart of Covent Garden, Sheekey’s Speakeasies pay homage to the restaurant’s theatre land roots.
